Email Client Guides
The following is a list of the general settings you will need for setting up email client software. For specific email client software information please review one of our other applicable articles.
Username: your-full-email-address@metalink.net
Incoming Mail Server (Hostname): mail.metalink.net
Incoming Mail Server Ports (POP3): 995 (SSL/TLS)
Incoming Mail Server Ports (IMAP): 993 (SSL/TLS)
Outgoing Mail Server (Hostname): mail.metalink.net
Outgoing Mail Server Port: 587
Outgoing Server Authentication Method: Requires Authentication – Normal Password
Outgoing Server Connection Security: STARTTLS
Step 1: First locate the “Settings” icon and tap it.
Step 2: Tap on the “Mail” tab. (NOTE: This could also be labeled as “Mail, Contacts, Calendars”)
Step 3: Tap on the “Accounts” option.
Step 4: Tap on the “Add Account” option.
Step 5: Tap on “Other” at the bottom of the list of email services.
Step 6: Tap on the “Add Mail Account” option.
Step 7: Enter you name into the “Name” field, your full email into the “Email” field, your email password into the “Password” field, and you choice of description within the “Description” field (e.g. “MetaLINK Email” or “My Email”). After you have filled in all of the fields, tap on “Next” in the top right.
Step 8: The next page asks you to select either IMAP or POP. The email account can be either IMAP4 or POP3, however in most cases you will used IMAP4. You can find the difference between IMAP and POP by clicking here: The Difference Between IMAP and POP. Once you have made your decision, enter you name, full email password, and account description into the “Name”, “Password”, and “Description” fields again if they are not populated already. Then scroll down to view more settings on the page.
Step 9: Once you scroll down, you will see an “Incoming Mail Server” and “Outgoing Mail Server”. Both of these sections will hold identical information. Under each section input “mail.metalink.net” in the “Host Name” fields, you FULL email address in the “User Name” fields, and your email password in the “Password” fields. After you have entered the information, tap on “Next” in the top right.
Step 10: Ensure that “Mail” is switched on and tap “Save”.
Step 11: Tap on the new account you have just created. It should be labeled as the “Description” you used on Step 7.
Step 12: Tap on the “Account” option.
Step 13: Tap on the “SMTP” option under “Outgoing Mail Server”.
Step 14: Tap on “mail.metalink.net” under “Primary Server”.
Step 15: On this page ensure that “Use SSL” is turned OFF, “Authentication” should be set to “Password” and the “Server Port” should be “587”. These settings are very important. After you have verified these settings, tap on “Done” in the top right.
Step 16: Tap on “Account” in the top left.
Step 17: Tap on the “Advanced” option at the bottom of the page.
Step 18: Scroll down to near the bottom of this next page and look for the “Incoming Settings” section. Under this section please ensure that “Use SSL” is switched ON, “Authentication” should be set as “Password”, and the “Server Port” should be 993 if you chose and IMAP account or 995 if you chose POP. These settings are very important. Once you have verified these settings, tap on “Account” in the top left.
Step 19: Tap on “Done” in the top right.
FINISHED: You have now successfully configured your email on your iPhone.
Step 1: Click on the “Mail” app on the dock at the bottom of your destop.
Step 2: Click on “Mail” in the top menu bar.
Step 3: Click on the “Add Account…” option within the drop down menu.
Step 4: Select the “Other Mail Account…” option and then click “Continue”.
Step 5: Enter you full name into the “Name:” field, you full email address into the “Email Address:” field, and your email password into the “Password:” field. Once you have all of the required information entered, click on “Sign In”.
Step 6: The app still needs more information and you will receive a red warning stating “Unable to verify account name or password”. This is normal. Simply verify that your email address and password are populated into the “Email Address:” and “Password:” fields. You will need to enter your FULL email address into the “User Name:” field. Once the top portion is filled in you will need to select either IMAP or POP in the “Account Type” drop down box. The email account can be either IMAP or POP, however in most cases you will use IMAP. After you have made your decision, enter “mail.metalink.net” into both the “Incoming Mail Server:” and “Outgoing Mail Server:” fields. Then click “Sign In”.
Step 7: Ensure that at least “Mail” is checked on the next dialog box. You may select other programs to use the information you have entered at your discretion. After you have verified “Mail” is selected, click on “Done”.
FINISHED: You have now successfully configure email on you MAC device.
Step 1: To start off you need to find the Mail Application that is installed with the Windows 8 – Windows 10 Operating System. The could be on your main Start Menu, or under “All Apps” in the “M” section:
Step 2: After starting up the Mail App you should have a window open up similar to this one. The next step can be reached in one of two ways. Step A or Step B as shown in the next image (For Step B you want to click B1 first, then B2):
Step 3: This will open the “Manage Accounts” side panel. Next, click on the “+ Add account” link:
Step 4: Once you click to add an account, you will see a list of account types. This list has a scroll bar so you will have to scroll all the way to the bottom of the list. At the bottom you should see “Advanced Setup”. This is the selection you will need to use so go ahead and click it.
Step 5: For the Advanced setup window you will need to choose “Internet Mail”:
Step 6: This is where we configure your Email. Just follow the template below. The “Account name” should be your Email address. “Your name” is your actual name. “Incoming email server” is: mail.metalink.net . The “Account type” can be either IMAP4 or POP3, however in most cases you will use IMAP4. You can find the difference between IMAP and POP by clicking here: The Difference Between IMAP and POP. Once this information is entered, scroll down and reveal more settings.
Step 7: The next settings are setup as follows: “Email address” is your email. “User name” will be your FULL email address. “Password” will be the password you use to enter your email, if you do not have this information please contact Tech Support and we will be more than happy to help you recover it. The “Outgoing (SMTP) email server” is: mail.metalink.net (same as the incoming address). After this information is entered go ahead and scroll down to the bottom of the configuration box.
Step 8: This is the final step. You will see 4 check boxes. The image below will show which settings will need to be turned on and which will need to be turned off. In most cases all settings will be turned on by default. Turn OFF “Require SSL for outgoing email” and ensure that the rest are turned on. After this you may click “Sign-In”.
FINISHED: You are now setup with the Windows Mail app.
