How do I setup Nationwide Access? |
For those customers who have had MetaLINK dial-up service in the past and now want to use nationwide access, there may be some additional settings that need to be changed. You can change to nationwide access by either running the MetaLINK CD v.7.0 (and put in your new location information) or to do the following steps.

**THESE SETTINGS ARE FOR NATIONWIDE ACCESS ONLY** To change your dial-up settings
- Open the Control Panel and double click on Internet options.
- Click on the Connections tab at the top.
- There should be a large white box labeled Dial-up and Virtual Private Network settings. In this area you should see your dial-up settings from MetaLINK usually named MetaLINK Technologies (Default). Click on these settings to highlight it and then click on the Settings button. (not LAN Settings).
- This will open a new screen, and toward the bottom there should be User name and Password. Change your username to include @metalink.net at the end(eg:
This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it
). This will allow your dial-up request to be forwarded to our service. You cannot use the nationwide access with out this change.
- Click Ok on this screen. Click Ok or Close on the next screen. Then close the Control Panel.
To change your email settings
- Open up Outlook Express.
- At the top click on Tools and then on the drop-down menu click on Accounts.
- This will open a new screen called Internet Accounts. Make sure the Mail tab is selected by clicking on it.
- Next, highlight your MetaLINK email settings (the one that has mail (default) under type) by clicking on it and then click on the Properties button, which is on the right side.
- This will open another screen. Click on the Servers tab at the top.
- You want to put a check in the box next My server requires authentication. This will allow you to access your email on our service through nationwide access.
- Click Ok on this screen. Click Close on the next screen.
