How do I use TurboDial with my non-Microsoft browser? |
Every Windows based operating system since Windows 98 has come with some version of Internet Explorer. Since it is built into Windows and there is nothing extra to set up most Internet users use IE for their web-browsing needs. And for them using TurboDial is as simple as installing the program and letting it run. It sets up everything for you automatically.
But not everyone uses Internet Explorer; and for those people getting TurboDial to work properly can be a little more complicated. Browsers like Netscape, Mozilla, Firebird, and Opera must be set up manually to take full advantage of the super speeds that Turbo-Dial gives you.
This can be done by adding a Proxy setting in your browser. To do this you will have to go in to your browser's settings window; usually by clicking on the "Tools" menu in the program window and then selecting "Options" or "Preferences" from that menu. From there you will need to go into the connection or proxy settings (this is different for every browser, if you can?t find it consult your browser's help or read-me file). Next you will need to enter a setting for "HTTP Proxy" with the address of "127.0.0.1" and the port number "5400." Save your settings and that is it!
You are now ready to use TurboDial with your browser. Next time you open up a webpage TurboDial will give you a message that it is connected and you will be able to see that it's working through the "Status" window in Turbo-Dial.
*Note: If at any time you decide to disable or cancel your TurboDial you will have to go back and take these settings out of your browser and revert it to the previous settings.
