Windows will store some files on the machine for temporary reasons. Disk Cleanup will remove these files and regain some lost hard drive space.
Windows 98/ME:
Click 'Start', 'Programs', 'Accessories', 'System Tools', 'Disk Cleanup'
Select your hard drive from the dropdown list (should already be selected)
Select all files in the 'Files to Delete' box, and then click 'OK'
Click 'Yes' when it asks if you are sure
Disk Cleanup will remove the selected files
Windows XP:
Click 'Start', 'All Programs', 'Accessories', 'System Tools', 'Disk Cleanup'
It will then calculate the amount of space it will free
Select all the files in 'Files to Delete', and then click 'OK'
Click 'Yes' when it asks if you are sure
Disk Cleanup will remove the selected files |
