Microsoft comes out with updates for the Windows OS almost every week (and sometimes a few a week). Recently many of these updates have been because of serious security problems that need to be fixed right away as if updates are not installed, the computer may be susceptible to viruses (such as MSBlaster) or other attacks.
To run Windows Update, you will need to use Internet Explorer. Other browsers such as Netscape and Mozilla FireFox will not work. Either visit http://www.windowsupdate.com or open Internet Explorer and click 'Tools' and then 'Windows Update.'
Download all Critical updates and Service Packs, and make sure to get the recommended updates as well.
