MetaLINK Technologies suggests uploading and downloading files from your website by using an FTP client. Not only is the process fairly simple, but is less prone to problems that can be associated with Frontpage.
To upload your website to MetaLINK Technologie's websever, you will need an FTP Client. MetaLINK Technologies suggests SmartFTP. This is free for personal use. You will need to download and install your FTP client before proceding. The following instructions are for SmartFTP, but can be applied to any FTP program.
Connecting through FTP
You will need the following information:
Domain Name
FTP Username
FTP Password
The FTP Username and Password may differ from your Frontpage Username and Password.
Type this information into your FTP client and connect (figure 1). With SmartFTP, just click 'FTP' and then 'Connect'.

You will then see a screen similiar to the following (figure 2):

All of the files that are displayed on your website are in the httpdocs folder. Secure webpages are kept in the httpsdocs folder. Opening up the httpdocs folder will display the files are are currently on the server (figure 3).

To move your files up to our servers, navigate to the folder you store them in on your computer (SmartFTP uses the pane labeled 'Local Browser'). Once you find the files, just select the ones that you want, and drag them up into the httpdocs folder, and your FTP program will begin moving them up to our servers (figure 4).

Once the transfer is complete, you can view your webpage with all the updated content. To copy your website back to your computer (for example after formatting), just select the files on the server pane and drag them to your computer.
